GSTIN: registration information, not creditworthiness
A GSTIN is generally a 15-character GST registration identifier. Format and check-digit validation can catch typing mistakes. An authorised GST registration check may reveal a taxpayer's legal name, status and registration particulars, subject to the source and permissions used. It cannot establish the likelihood of future payment or prove that all invoices will be honoured.
If the information is required, verify the taxpayer from the official GST portal or an appropriately authorised provider. Follow CAPTCHA and access requirements; do not rely on random search snippets as official records.
PAN: tax identity, not a bureau report
PAN identifies a taxpayer. Format validation tells you whether a supplied identifier looks structurally correct, not whether it belongs to a particular business or person. Access to identity-verification services can require authorisation and a legitimate purpose. Do not use another party's PAN without the rights or permissions necessary for the intended processing. The official Income Tax Department is an appropriate starting point for information about PAN services.
CIN and MCA/ROC: understand the registered legal entity
A CIN identifies companies registered under the Indian corporate-registration framework. Check the legal name, company status, and directors or filings as relevant and legally permitted. Many proprietorships and partnerships do not have a CIN, so absence of one is not by itself proof of wrongdoing. Use the Ministry of Corporate Affairs for official company information.
Why matching identifiers matters
Compare the buyer's purchase-order name, legal entity, tax registration and bank-beneficiary information. A mismatch may reflect a group entity, branch or outdated records—not necessarily fraud—but it should be resolved before granting unsecured credit.
What AI research can and cannot do
AI-assisted web research may summarise publicly available articles and highlight discrepancies worth checking. It may miss records, confuse similarly named businesses or repeat inaccurate allegations. A useful report should show source links, retrieval dates and uncertainty. AI summaries do not become GST, Income Tax, MCA or credit-bureau verification merely because they sound confident.
Turn identity checks into a credit policy
Combine legitimate registry evidence with agreed payment terms, actual collections, available working capital, internal exposure limits and human review. Keep an audit trail of which information was retrieved and when. PaySure's free credit limit tool estimates exposure from financial inputs; it does not perform an automated government or bureau enquiry.
